Brief Description of Project

Design, supply, installation and operate solar charging stations for provision of off-grid pre-paid electricity to 200 villages and rural towns.

Detailed Description

Fortune CP is implementing a solar project that will benefit 40,000 rural households, businesses, schools in Mozambique. At rural trading centre/markets and towns Fortune CP innovative (PV MOTO) off-grid solar charging stations are being installed to provide pre-paid electricity (powering LED lights, mobile phones, radios, and other energy efficient appliances such as small solar fridges). Each station provides power to 250-500 (households, businesses, schools, clinics) or a combination. Houses are pre-wired,  LED bulbs installed complete with switches and holders. The project also involves working with 200 local entrepreneurs.

The initial $1 million to start the project is jointly funded by AECF (Managed by KPMG) and Fortune CP (UK).

Scope of work:

• Engineering – System Design, Drawings, Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing
• Procurement and Delivery
• Installation
• Testing, Commissioning and Training
• Operation of sites

Equipment includes:

• Up to 2MW of solar systems – complete with Fortune CP solar panels, controllers, mounting frames
• Over 50,000 PV Moto power modules for buying pre-paid electricity
• Over 160,000 LED bulbs with holders, switches, cables
• LED floodlights for community lighting
• Solar fridges, pumps and other energy efficient appliances
• Ground mounting frames

Fortune CP implements solar and energy efficiency projects in the Africa and worldwide. Our solar systems are used by prominent companies and organisations such as Government (various ministries), Banks, Oil companies, Factories, Telecom companies, Hotels and others. The systems are used for electricity generation in residential buildings, commercial buildings, telecom BTS towers, rural electrification, schools and hospitals, farms and more.
